The Institute of Urgent and Recovery Surgery n.a.Gusak (Donetsk City) is one of the leading organizations of the Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine, since it has the most developed scientific and medical trends. Every year more then 14000 patients, suffering from nearly all known diseases, undergo treatment in 14 hospital departments of the Institute. • The Institute of Urgent and Recovery Surgery has a comprehensive coordinated system of heart disease treatment in children and adults. The matter concerns not only chronic heart diseases caused by CHD (coronary heart disease), rhythm disturbance, congenital heart disease, acquired valvular disease, when conventional methods and surgical operation, including extracorporeal circulation, are required, but also urgent cardiology, when a patient with acute myocardial infarction undergoes thrombolysis and emergency stenting of affected artery.

This Center performs successful treatment of bad, deep burns along with any kinds of restorative plastic surgeries. There is a wide application of “artificial skin”, fibroblasts and keratinocytes, cultivated in the Cell and Tissue Cultivation Laboratory, in case of burn treatment.
