Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis with Stem Cells

Good results of multiple sclerosis treatment by means of T-cellular vaccine at International center of biotechnology “Biostem”.

Multiple sclerosis is the chronic disease of central nervous system that characterizes by unpredictable and often progressing clinical course. Origins of multiple sclerosis are still unknown. Supposedly, the disease is connected with virus infection and autoimmune processes in central nervous system. Symptoms and signs of multiple sclerosis are obvious in motor functions such as: muscle weakness, stiffness and hypotaxia. The sick with multiple sclerosis may feel decrease of sensitivity – numbness and pricking in hands and feet. Diagnosis “multiple sclerosis” may be evident in visual damages, decrease of genital function and even handicaps.

Standard treatment of multiple scleroses is based on the use of strong medicine (hormones, cytostatics, interferons) that characterize with nonspecific immunosuppressive effect. Such treatment causes side effects and cannot completely break off the immune-pathologic process than is in the origin of the disease.

In our center we offer the patients with multiple sclerosis two types of cellular therapy: treatment with own stem cells (provides immunosuppressive effect and T-cellular vaccine treatment). The type of cellular therapy is decided by neurologist and depends on the stage of disease and intensity of clinical appearance.

T-cellular vaccine method includes 2 stages:

1) Discharge of autological T-lymphocytes out of patient’s peripheral blood and their increase in the presence of antigens in vitro (out of organism).

2) Vaccinotherapy with autoimmune lymphocytes. The process of lymphocytes’ increase lasts 10-14 days. Inductive therapy course consists of hypodermal immunizations 1 time a week. To maintain the vaccinate effect immunization is carried out one time a month.

Immune process intended for inactivation of autoimmune lymphocytes causes the inhibition of the disease development.

During medical supervision no acute attack was recorded in any of our patients with remittent course of multiple sclerosis. Some patients admitted the improvement of neurological status. Cellular therapy course during multiple sclerosis treatment can slow-down the development of the disease, considerably improve the neurological status and life quality of patients.
